چکیده

A model based on the hadronic fluctuations of the real photon is developed to describe the total photonucleon and photonuclear cross sections in the energy region above the nucleon resonances. The hadronic spectral function of the photon is derived including the finite width of vector-meson resonances and the quark-antiquark continuum. The shadowing effect is evaluated considering the effective interaction of the hadronic component with the bound nucleons within a Glauber-Gribov multiple scattering theory. The low energy onset of the shadowing effect is interpreted as a possible signature of a modification of the hadronic spectral function in the nuclear medium. A decrease of the ρ-meson mass in nuclei is suggested for a better explanation of the experimental data.

We argue that current data on nuclear shadowing confirm expectations of the color singlet models of nuclear shadowing. We demonstrate that unitarity constrains require nuclear shadowing for gluons to be very significant already for x ≤ 10 . Physics of coherent diffraction production of vector mesons off light nuclei is also discussed.

Elements of a new model of strong interactions are described. The model is based on an extension of electrodynamics that is derived from a regular Lagrangian density. Here the electric and magnetic fields of Maxwell equations play a symmetric role. It is shown that results are in accordance with general properties of nuclear and nucleon systems.

The breathing-mode giant monopole resonance is studied within the framework of the rel-ativistic mean-field (RMF) theory. Using a broad range of parameter sets, a systematic analysis of constrained incompressibility and excitation energy of isoscalar monopole states in finite nuclei is performed. A comparison is made with the incompressibility derived from the semi-infinite nuclear matter and w...
